How far in advance should I book my honeymoon or destination wedding?
We recommend starting the process at least 9-12 months out, especially if you are planning on a peak timeframe. The better resorts and room categories usually book quickly, and booking early helps ensure you get exactly what you want.
I'm really worried about making a mistake in planning. What are some of the common mistakes in the planning process?
There are several, but rest assured by working with a travel professional these can be avoided. Some of the most common are:
*Letting a friend or family member plan your event for you. No matter how well-meaning they can be, this is YOUR special time. Don't let someone else talk you into something you don't want.
*Booking solely on price. While it's definately smart to make a budget for your event, don't plan your destination wedding or honeymoon on price alone. The worst feeling in the world is coming home and thinking "I wish I would have........", because there's no second chance.
*Not purchasing travel insurance. This is a big one. No one ever plans on their bags getting lost, a hurricane occuring or a medical emergency in another country. A good travel insurance policy will cover these events and much more. The majority of US health insurance companies provide NO coverage outside the US. You don't want to deal with a financial disaster during what should be the happiest time of your life!
